Segway mini-fesT to Start in Annapolis

We are now finalizing the plans for the Segway mini-fesT event. If you will be attending, please let me know (dcsegroup@gmail.com) so we know who and how many to expect, and when to expect you.

The plans are as follows:

Friday October 2 - Maryland

Noon: Meet at Segway of Annapolis downtown Annapolis, Maryland location, www.annapolissegwaytours.com 131 Prince George Street, Annapolis MD. We will go to lunch from there, depending on how many of us there are. No set lunch location yet. 2 pm: Meet at Segway of Annapolis downtown Annapolis MD location, www.segwayofannapolis.com 131 Prince George Street, Annapolis MD. We will go on a glide around historic Annapolis Maryland and see this early American port town as only one can see on Segway. Pay Parking is in several structured Parking Garages in Annapolis, look for the signs. (Street Parking is very limited and they ticket out of Towner’s quickly.) 6 pm: Meet at Segway of National Harbor (Harbor Segs) www.harborsegs.com 110 Waterfront Street National Harbor Maryland. This will be a chance to recharge your segs while we go off for dinner at one of the close-by restaurants. After dinner we will go on a glide around National Harbor and over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge (if you have a light, make sure your battery is charged, as it will be a twilight glide.) Pay Parking is in garages all around National Harbor or in the parking lot near the waterfront (recommended for oversized vehicles) metered street parking is very expensive.

Saturday October 3 – Washington DC

10:30 – 10:45 am: Meet at the Spy Museum in Washington DC http://spymuseum.org/ 800 F St NW Washington DC for the Spy in the City Tour - a GPS based tour of DC. And a tour of this very interesting museum (cost $28 per person) - If you have not requested tickets, and gotten a confirmation from me, you will be on the waiting list for tickets, the only way we will have extra tickets is if someone bails at the last minute. If you are using your Segway for mobility, you can ride it inside the museum, if not we will have a secure area to park it. Pay Parking in DC will be on the streets or at parking lots. Metered street parking is free is some areas on Saturdays, but only for 3 hours. Since we will be out for more than 3 hours, try Center City Parking a large open parking lot on 9th Street between New York Avenue and H Street, NW. If you are coming in New York Avenue, this lot works very well. Just southwest of the Convention Center, you can glide to the Spy Museum easily from here. Other parking can be found on this website: http://dc.about.com/od/transportation/a/ParkingNearMall.htm DC city parking information on this website: http://ddot.dc.gov/ddot/cwp/view,a,1250,q,645172.asp

12:30 pm: Glide somewhere and have lunch in DC – location TBD. 1:30 pm: Take a leisurely glide around interesting DC neighborhoods. 6:00 pm: Meet at the Wisconsin Avenue entrance to the elevator at the Bethesda Metro Station on the Red Line. (with Segways always use the elevators at the Metro Stations.) Glide around Bethesda Maryland www.downtownbethesda.com and go to dinner. A stop at the Apple Store has been requested. BD's Mongolian Grill www.gomongo.com/locations/locationDetails.php?loc=21 . For those of you staying in DC, take the Metro with your Segway – it is a fun way to travel, and Segways are allowed on the Metro on the weekends (you may only ride your Segway in the stations if you have a Metro issued placard – otherwise push your Segway and always use the elevators.) Parking – there is lots of parking lots in Bethesda.

Sunday October 4 – Virginia

11:45 am: Meet in Crozet Virginia at Seg-Ville www.seg-ville.com in the Old Trail Village Center. http://www.oldtrailvillage.com/villagecenter.html Here is a Google map off of the old trail village website. http://maps.google.com/maps?sourceid...title&resnum=1 We will caravan over to the King Family Vineyard to watch or participate in Segway Polo http://www.kingfamilyvineyards.com/ Then head back to Seg-Ville and take a glide on the trails of Seg-Ville. There will be a time to share a meal.

This Segway mini-fesT event is an informal get-together for Segway Enthusiasts who enjoy hanging out and gliding together. This is a great time to swap stories, meet the people you talk with on Segway Chat and have some live-in-person fun with other Segway Enthusiasts. You are encouraged to bring stuff to sell, buy, swap or trade with other attendees. We do have a nice selection of door prizes provided by Segway Inc. for attendees to win. There is no real cost for this event, other than those attending the Spy Museum event, and meals, which will be group events with separate bills. Come and enjoy one portion of the event, or do everything. Please let me know what events you will be coming to, so we can look for you. Feel free to email me at dcsegroup@gmail.com

See you on a Segway at the beginning of October!
